Waiting for the Giggles

We hung pictures on our walls today!!!

If this doesn't mean much to you, maybe you are not an MK.... Every time we finally hang pictures, we move! I've developed an aversion to hanging anything. Also because it keeps me from feeling "settled". I'm not sure how I would react to the next move if I felt settled. It might be harder.

I had all the pictures out on my bed deciding which should go on the walls. My daughter carefully looked over one collage, and wondered why she was not there. She wasn't born yet. I told her, "You made us wait a long time for you!"

She thought. "No, God made me, so it was God who made you wait, not me."

I laughed. "I guess you are right. He must have been waiting until he got you so perfect."

"I think He was waiting until He got enough giggles in me!"

Maybe. It was a long wait, I'll tell you that.

What insight in saying, "It was God that made you wait." I remember when I had some cycle issues that delayed me getting pregnant with my first child and the doctors were talking about this, that, and the other and there was a infertility workup and it was all stressing me out until I accepted what I already knew -- the doctor's are great and technology is great to a point but I won't get pregnant until God allows me to. What a precious post!

I enjoyed your book reviews. I LOVE to read, but I haven't done much reading since my first child was born and we were on deputation.

Merry Christmas!

Karis, I think the one thing I have the most sympathy for is women who struggle with getting pregnant. I am so thankful we did not have to struggle there - I am not sure I would have been able to have faith through that! So glad you have kids now, though!

I was in the opposite camp - I couldn't figure out a way to stop getting pregnant! Not even the most failsafe things worked for me! But it is all God, isn't it? Making us wait for His time or over-riding our futile attempts to "control" the process.

But, oh, to have two little girls like you do, and to see two little heads together giggling over something... I miss that at times.

Aha! Another piece of the puzzle of my life fell into place because of your words. Now I better understand why I wait so long to 'decorate' my living quarters, especially when it comes to pictures. They must somehow seem so permanent to us TCK's (includes MK's).

And the wisdom that came from the giggling girl about God's sovereignty in pregnancy. Wow!

Rejoicing with you on being able to both hang pictures and wait on God.
